48 hours.

Well, we are pretty well packed now. This time on Thursday we should have just left Heathrow for the 12 hour flight to Hong Kong, then a couple of hours there before the 8 hour stretch to Brisbane. I can't wait- well to arrive in Brisbane that is- Hate the flight, how come it is so tiring doing nothing? It is going to be great to catch up with all the family- the big ones, and the litle babies 2 new additions to the family since out last trip, and can't wait to see the other kids and say 'oh my goodness loke how grown up you are now'. Loooking forward to scrap shopping- you know, I think my mojo is coming back already. I am already planning what photos I'll take and how to scrap them. And the most exciting thing is......(scrapwise that is)......
I am going to a class with Carole Janson yeah. If you don't know carole's style, just click the link is my sidebar. then you will know why I am excited!

I have been a really bad blogger lately. I think it is because I just haven't been scrapping much. I have really lost my mojo lately, and can't get excited about scrapping just now. I am wondering if it is because of being on Design Teams over the last year. The idea of being on a design team is really exciting, especially the idea of being sent regular surprise packages of stash to use. But in reality what happens is you often get products that don't excite, or that you can't find photos to use with, and it can be stressful forcing yourself to do LOs your heart just isn't in. The LOs that I have been happiest with are those that start with a story, where I know what I want the LO to say, and conversely, those that I am least happy with have been DT projects that have started with the product. Anyway my DtTcommitments have dwindled now. I did not reapply for Willowtree Crafts DT, and Jillybeans is closing so that has saved me from making the decision to withdraw from that team. I will remain with Little Silver Hat though cause I find all those ribbons hard to resist! So for the time being a little less scrapping and more going out and about, enjoy the great outdoors, especially over the summer months, concentrate on photography a bit, and maybe some other arty things. I just need a bit more balance in my life just now.

Just been playing with my camera in the garden. Even after all this time living in the UK, I am still amazed by how easily things grow in this country. These photos have all been taken in one of my perennial borders. In just a few weeks this border goes from virtually nothing to this profusion of flowers and greenery- oh and weeds too. I am working hard to keep the weeds under control before I go to Australia. I think now the flowers are winning. I have aquilegias, sage, geraniums, aliums, alchamellia, osteospermum, peonies to name a few (without spell checks!) the rhodedendrons are just past their best now, so haven't photographed those. Heather- these photos are for you. In terms of scrapping I just have a cj entry to do, then that's it until I get back.

Slowing down

I'm slowing down my scrapping this month, well actually I couldn't really scrap much slower than I do already. What I mean is, I'm not really scrapping at all. I'm off to Australia at the end of the month, and am just too busy to scrap just now. the garden has just exploded recently- a combination of light, heat and rain, and everything is grwing profusely, including weeds. So I need to devote a lot of my spare time trying to keep it in order before we leave. It looks gorgeous just now, lots of flowers out, especially rhodedendrons. I know they are big, brash and blousy, but I love them just the same.

I am also doing Cheryl's on line photography course, so that is taking a bit of time. I'm still trying to suss out my new camera. At the moment I only have the 18-55mm lens it came with so I am trying to work out which lens to buy. I am finding the non zoom bit frustrating.

Anyway I will post a LO I did a couple of weeks ago. All the patterned paper handmade by moi.

so very sad

It is so sad around my neighbourhood just now. On Wednesday a little girl who lives up the street from us was killed by a hit and run driver, and her mother was seriously injured. The car had been involved in a series of accidents in our area culminating in the driver racing up our street before mounting the pavement and hitting Olivia and her mother. Life is so fragile. A mother and child coming home from school, an ordinary everyday event that can never happen again. Too painful to bear.
