I forgot...

Tracie set this challenge; The idea is to post the 6th photo in the 6th folder on your computer.
This is mine-Emily, taken in October 2007. She has grown up in the last 18 months.

So I have to ask 2 people to do the same, so I will ask Julie and Kat

My baby turns 16 today. Where have those years gone?
I made her this little album-It is very sentimental-
and she'll no no doubt think I've got a screw loose,
but I hope she'll keep it and maybe one day it will mean something to her.

The journalling is based upon the words of Elizabeth Knapp, but I did change some to suit us.

Did I tell you?Now that you are grown,I look back and ask myself-Did I tell you all that I meant to tell you, all that I felt was important? Did I tell you or was it lost in the shuffle of our Everyday lives. The busy full days when we taught and didn’t know it.What did I teach? Was it strong? Was it good? Will it root you in something real that will allow you to grow with a firm and sound foundation?Did I tell you…
Did I tell you to love? Not with a fair-weather love, but with a love that accepts and cherishes unconditionally.Love not with a quick and passing love, but with a love that is a quiet peach within your heart.Did I tell you to be thoughtful? Not to be a martyr or a doormat to be trod upon, but to be aware of other people and their needs. To meet others with awareness and within your own framework,Be able to meet them halfway and on occasion, go the other half joyfully.

Did I tell you to be courteous? Not to display empty manners with no meaning but to live the courtesy born of caring. And to express this caring through the small formalities and customs born of the years.Did I tell you to be bold?To be not afraid of the unknown, but to live life to the fullest, and meet each new experience with joy and anticipation. And did I tell you to be cautious? To temper your daring and sense of adventure with good judgment and consideration.

Did I tell you to serve other people if only in a small way? There is growth and satisfaction in being part of something larger than yourself and your life will be richer for knowing this.Did I tell you to find a part of nature that speaks to you? Then know it intimately and well. For some it is a mountain peak, for some a windswept beach.Find your own and in it find your restoration.

Did I tell you to maintain a sense of the past?To recall and uphold all that is best and meaningful in our country and in our society. But never be afraid to speak out when you don’t believe or where there is room for improvement.Work for what you believe, but work in a positive way, with a structure of order and reason.Remember your ancestors; learn about them, so you can know of where you came.

Did I tell you to be creative? To explore the seed within you.Find your creative spirit and let it grow.

Did I tell you to laugh to dance to sing? There is a lot in life that is hard, but take it as is comes and find the good…And make time to dance. And did I tell you always to respect yourself?Don't compromise your morals- do what you know to be right and good, regardless of what others may do.

Did I tell you these things as we went along the way?If I did, I am humbly grateful. If I did not, then choose for yourself. If it has meaning to you, accept it and make it your own.If it does not, discard it.Your life is yours to build as you choose.

And did I tell you…I hope it will be a good life. Now that you are grown,I look back and ask myself-Your life is yours to build as you choose. And did I tell you…I hope it will be a good life.

Elizabeth Knapp

This little album is very romantic-and if you click on the images you will see that I have discovered the joys of embossing. It's a lovely way to add texture without bulk. The papers are all Dream Street. the ribbons are all from Angel Crafts ribbon kits.

Happy Birthday Emily!

Happy Valentine..

The Creative Type has a special Valentine challenge with a prize I would love to win-but being on the DT, I'm not eligible.

I made a very romantic layout for the challenge:

I hand cut the title-haven't done that since I first started scrapping.

The weekend..

..was lovely. Yesterday I went for a walk in the Pentlands. It was gorgeous-the day was still, the sun shone now and again-and the snow was pristine. You can see some of the many photos I took on my photography blog-(link on the right).

Today I scrapped. I finished my layouts for Issue 37 of The Scrapbook Magazine. Now just have to write the article...not so much fun!

So here is a minialbum I made using Graphic 45 papers from Scrapbook Sisters.

The cover is made from a cheap photo frame from IKEA-so it creates a shadow box cover.

I LOVE these papers-they are so easy to work with.

Want a chance to win some really cool goodies? All you have to do is head over to Gauche Alchemy-they have lots of unusual bits and pieces to give away..all you have to do is leave a comment and link your blog to theirs...-oh, and their February kit will be revealed tomorrow!!

Have a good week!

Been scrapping...

... unfortunately can't show any just now because they are for Design Teams and for an article I'm writing for The Scrapbook Magazine.

I've done two layouts for Angela using ribbon from her January ribbon kit.

I've done 2 layouts, and an arty piece for Scrapbook Sisters.

I've almost completed 4 layouts for the Scrapbook Magazine.

Now Emily wants help with another birthday card.

So I'll just post a page in my Art journal. This was done few weeks ago-

I've not had time to do any more to my Art Journal lately, bur hope to get back to it soon!!

I Love going into Cath Kidson shops, but the cynic in me is ever present!

Becky Fleck- Pagemaps

The team from THE CREATIVE TYPE were invited to do the February PAGEMAPS sketches, and so one of my layouts is featured, along with my teamies from the TYPE. If you don't know Pagemaps I suggest you go and have a look- the sketches are great, and so easy to work from. And to cap it off my layout got a special mention in the pagemaps newsletter. So I'm happy!
But having said that, I think the whole team did a great job with the sketches!

I actually did 2 layouts from the sketch and asked Becky to use either one.

Anyway here's the layout that was used on Pagemaps:

And here's the one that wasn't:
