The Scrapbook Magazine

I have a layout in the latest issue of The Scrapbook Magazine.

I was asked to do the sketch challenge.
This is the sketch I was sent.

It was a pretty straightforward sketch to work from and I used it pretty much as it was, to scrap these fantastic photos from Prague.
I LOVED the graffiti wall-the John Lennon wall as it is known.
The story is on the layout, which you can read if you click the image.
The Mumma Bushka range of papers from Kaisercrafts suited these photos so well- they have a folksy feel, and the colours are just so bright and cheery.
And that big flower has a hippy era retro feel to it, so it made the perfect embellishment for the page.
It's difficult to see, but the flower has a lot of cut work, and the inner petals sit up from the outer petals.
There is also a lot of stickles on this page- on the word PEACE, around the journalling spot, and on the flowers.
You know how it is with stickles-once you get started it's hard to stop!!

Progress report

I've had a few people asking me how the reorganisation of my scrappy stuff is going, so a little update is in order. Basically it is all done. I have a couple of boxes of bits and pieces that I will be giving away soon. I have sorted and put away nearly everything else, but there are some things I just can't seem to find a place for. The problem is the more arty stuff-the ephemera, the found items, the wallpaper samples, the bits of wood etc-you know he kind of thing you will need to use the moment you throw it out! I think I need to have a tidy up of the garage to find a place for all those awkward things.

Meantime you would think that with me being on holidays I would be blogging more, but it doesn't seem to work like that. I have been scrapping though. I am guest designer at Gauche Alchemy for July and a sneak peek can be seen here. I had a great time with the kit-it was quite a challenge but I'm pleased with the results. I'll post my layouts just as soon as they are up at Gauche Alchemy.

I have also been doing Kaisercrafts projects, and these are starting to go up on the Kaisercraft blog now. Here is one layout that is up on the blog.


This layout uses products from the Loire Valley range, which I think is my favourite of the new ranges. I love the colours. For those of you who are not familiar with Scotland, a ceilidh is a dance with traditional Scottish country dances, like the Gay Gordons and Strip the Willow- a bit like we would do at an Australian barn dance.

If you take a look at the Kaisercrafts blog you will see a sketch that might inspire you, and also a call for projects using Kaisercrafts products to be published in the magazine.

Things can only get better...

So, I've finished the painting, and now I've started to move all the stuff that was in the lounge room back into the kitchen.
So now I need to sort-ruthlessly!

What have I done?...

I thought it would be a good idea to paint the kitchen. Well it is a good idea-heaven knows it needs it-
BUT one end of my kitchen is my scrap area!
You know what that means-yep, all the scrap stash had to come out from its hiding place.

So now my hall looks like this..

And my loungeroom looks like this:

And now my husband knows how much stash I have-and is gobsmacked!
Now I know that I don't have a lot of stash compared to some but I also know I have too much,
so it is not all going back. I am going to thin out what I have and give some way-
and that reorganising and pruning is going to take a whole lot more effort than all that sugar soaping and painting.
The problem with scrapstash is that it all comes in awkward sizes.
If only it was all uniform and could be put way like books on a shelf!

Any tips on organising and storing stash gratefully received.

The Holidays...

are here... yea!!!


I'm planning a little trip to Barcelona, and maybe some camping in Scotland, depending on the weather! It has been so hot here today-30 degrees is almost unheard of for Edinburgh.


If it rains I'm planning on redecorating the kitchen-and does it ever need it!
As for scrapping, I've done some more LOs for Kaisercrafts, which I'll show later. Speaking of Kaisercrafts-did you know they have a very friendly forum-and a blog-and downloadable project ideas? There's enough there to keep you entertained for a long time.
