A Day Out in Dublin layout

So this layout is one I did for CSI case 85.

This was the inspiration and colour scheme:

And these are the elements to choose from:

EVIDENCE (USE AT LEAST 2 CLUES)
  • labels, tags
  • vellum
  • numbers
  • something clear
  • metal
  • decorative brads or buttons
  • string
  • frame
  • something sandy (e.g., embossing powder, glitter, etc.)
  • decorative border
  • something transparent
TESTIMONY (USE AT LEAST 1 CLUE)
  • Make a numbered list of five interesting/ important things about your topic.
  • Journal using the five senses.
  • Write your journaling on a tag.
  • Hand-write your journaling in cursive.
  • Inspiration words: souvenir, save, found--please use these as a jumping off point for your JOURNALING, not just as a title.
My background was made using a stencil and mists, also some stamping. then it was a matter of layering up some bits and pieces, including washi tape. Finally, some random machine stitching adds a bit of texture. CSI is a great way to kick start your creativity-why not give it a go?

Scrapbook Challenge

To get my scrapping juices flowing this week I joined in with the latest challenge from CSI.
CSI is a great challenge site with inspiration for colour, layout and journalling.

This is the colour palette:

And here's the sketch:
In addition, we were to use at least two of these:
anchor or other nautical elements
stripes
fabric
trees
textured paper
fringe
pockets
ribbon, twine, or other trim
circle
clocks or watch parts

And at least one of these:

Tell the story of together time or a getaway.
Wander through Dream.Write.Explore and be inspired.
Write two perspectives on your topic (could be from two different people's perspectives, or maybe the good and bad part of something, or something else you can think of).
Use striped paper as journaling lines.
Inspiration words: explore, authentic, escape--please use these as a jumping off point for your JOURNALING, not just as a title.

So, here's my interpretation of the challenge:
I used striped paper for my journaling, and the story is about our trip together to Norway last year.

I've used circles, an anchor, textured paper and twine.

I did some stencilling with gesso-I bet you can't guess what I used as a stencil....

Step by Step Layout

Here's a layout I did a while ago.

I thought you may be interested in the process of making this layout, so here's how I did it:

First I scraped some texture paste through a piece of sequin waste. When it was dry I squirted on some mists, allowing them to bleed together and titling the page to allow the mists to drip. When that was dry I flicked on some dots of white acrylic paint.

I turned the page around and layered some papers. a transparency, washi tape and a scalloped circle under the photo, then added some stamping and rub ons.

I continued to add random stamps, building up faint and darker impressions. I also added a rub on to the photo. The stamps and rub ons are mainly Kaisercrafts.

Finally I added the title and some embellishments-buttons and chipboard pieces.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my process for this layout.

A package from Merly Impressions...

I've had a lovely summer holiday in Australia visiting family, but feeling a bit sad that my holiday has come to an end. However a package arrived in the post this morning that really cheered me up-My first lot of goodies from Merly Impressions that I will be designing with this month.

I have to say that Kaisercrafts has really surpassed itself with this line of stash. It's the Take Note collection, and it has subtle neutral palette, and understated patterns. In addition there are lots of papers and coordinating stickers, rubons and stamps,  containing words and quotes-all very versatile.
I can't wait to get started!

Here's a couple of pictures to whet your appetite!

This collection would be perfect for a Project Life type project.

How would you like to win a £25 voucher to spend at Merly Impressions? All you need to do is enter the August challenge. You still have 6 days to enter. All the details can be found here.
